New Tech

I had a big technology leap this week. After viewing an online presentation by NetLibrary, I was able to both load a book onto my new MP3 player and demonstrate this to a patron. The presentation was very helpful. I now feel familiar with the content of all those NetLibrary links on our homepage!

Had fun looking at photo mosaic concepts, how to create trader cards etc. Behold, I created my pet's name below from "Spell with Flickr":

NetLibrary Notes

I'm now happily downloading on my MP3 player that I won at Staff Development Day! Yeh! After browsing through the NetLibrary subjects, I think it will be especially popular with patrons learning languages. Business titles also look interesting. Also thought our NetLibrary pamphlet gave clear instruction for novices.

Podcast: my "finds"

~ Video podcasts are great fun!
~ Use Podcast.net as Yahoo podcast site discontinued.
~ Itunes: Go to store where content is. My discovery: not every artist has a podcast but an interesting mix!
~ I liked just doing a search on Google for book or Library related things: a search using the words podcast and

publisher's name will find eg. Simonsays (Simon & Schuster) audio interviews of authors they publish.
~ I can see how SAPL could use a podcast in our website to demo use of resources or give a library tour.
